Am I really suggesting that Father Christmas is real? OK maybe that was a cheap trick to get your attention! But this 5 minute video by the Canadian low cost Airline West Jet is truly something special. It is a lovely illustration of the power of giving at Christmas time.

What gift are you looking forward to receiving this Christmas?

Now please just sit back and enjoy!

We love the magic and simplicity of Father Christmas giving gifts at Christmas time. If only everyday was as enchanting! If only Father Christmas was for real.

If only airports and aircraft staff and employees were always so friendly and nice! Shame about the real world!

 The message of Christmas is that God has sent someone into our world becuase He loves us more than we love ourselves. That does not necessarily mean that we will get what we want, but He will provide us with what we truly need.

This is an alternative prayer to think and ponder about. When I was a medical student I had it on my bedroom wall:

I asked for strength that I might achieve;
I was made weak that I might learn humbly to obey.
I asked for health that I might do greater things;
I was given infirmity that I might do better things.
I asked for riches that I might be happy;
I was given poverty that I might be wise.
I asked for power that I might have the praise of men;
I was given weakness that I might feel the need of God.
I asked for all things that I might enjoy life;
I was given life that I might enjoy all things.
I got nothing that I had asked for,
but eveything that I had hoped for.
Almost despite myself my unspoken prayers were answered;
I am, among all men, most richly blessed.

So no I am not at all suggesting that Father Christmas is for real, but there is someone we remember at Christmas time who came to earth to show us what true love is. He gave Himself for us. He does not necessarily promise to give us what we want, but He will provide us with what we truly need.
